Fundación Iberdrola España and Fad Juventud promote the employment integration of young people in Extremadura in the renewable‑energy sector

  • The initiative is being carried out with students enrolled in Basic Vocational Training (FP Básica) at IES García Téllez, IES Cristo del Rosario (Zafra) and IES Extremadura (Montijo)
  • This regional project aims to strengthen technical vocations and improve youth employability in the field of renewable energies

The project “Support for the labour-market integration of young people training in renewable energies” seeks to contribute to the sustainable integration of adolescents in situations of educational and social vulnerability through innovative training activities that enhance their self‑knowledge, educational continuity, and access to the labour market.

Fundación Iberdrola España visited IES García Téllez in Cáceres this Wednesday to learn about the development of the employment‑integration programme for young people training in renewable energies, promoted by Fad Juventud in Extremadura in collaboration with the Foundation.

The visit provided an opportunity to learn first-hand about the educational and guidance activities being carried out with students at the Cáceres school, as part of a programme that aims to strengthen their personal and professional skills and support their educational progress and access to the labour market, particularly in the electrical field.

The collaboration agreement between Fundación Iberdrola España and Fad Juventud Extremadura, valued at 35,000 euros, is aimed at Basic Vocational Training students from three secondary schools in Extremadura: IES García Téllez (Cáceres), IES Cristo del Rosario (Zafra) and IES Extremadura (Montijo). The programme focuses on fostering technical vocations and offering career guidance in the fields of electricity and energy, combining practical sessions, group dynamics and individualised support.

The programme also includes the use of a gamified digital tool for assessing soft skills. This interactive video game enables the organisation to evaluate, in a playful yet rigorous way, key aspects such as problem‑solving, initiative, adaptability and teamwork. The intervention will be carried out by the Fad Juventud technical team in Extremadura, which will lead each phase of the process with methodological support from experts in competency assessment linked to the tool. This technical support reinforces the value of the assessment without overshadowing the direct work of the team in the educational centres.

According to Julia Cuevas, Training Department specialist: “At Fundación Iberdrola España, we particularly value days like today, which help showcase the work carried out by Fad Juventud in Extremadura to bring young people closer to Basic Vocational Training linked to electricity and renewable energies. Initiatives like this show that vocational training can be a real gateway to continued studies, the acquisition of technical skills and access to new job opportunities in a key sector for the future. Our commitment is to continue driving projects that strengthen youth employability and promote active participation in the energy transition, contributing to the development of the region and a more sustainable future for the entire community.”

During the session held in Cáceres, participants worked on content related to career guidance and job opportunities linked to the electrical and energy sector. The programme also includes practical workshops on basic installations, maintenance, safety and tool use, as well as meetings with professionals from the sector.

50 young people in Extremadura to benefit from the programme

In total, the programme will benefit 50 Basic Vocational Training students aged 15 to 18 in Extremadura. The initiative is part of the project “Support for the labour‑market integration of young people training in renewable energies”, promoted by Fad Juventud with funding from Fundación Iberdrola España. Its objective is to improve the employability of adolescents in vulnerable situations through guidance activities, skills development and direct exposure to professional sectors linked to the green economy.

The project also includes sessions focused on self‑knowledge, the identification of professional interests, and the strengthening of study habits and continuity in their training path, with the aim of improving student motivation and helping them build realistic academic and professional pathways.

125 years of history and commitment
