El Prado en las Calles – Exhibition
Fundación Iberdrola España and the Museo del Prado
hare the goal of promoting art and culture, highlighting their contribution to sustainable development and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (the United Nations 2030 Agenda). This aim is reflected in various initiatives, such as support for the Museum’s Restoration Workshop, the awarding of scholarships for young restorers, and the exhibition “El Prado en las Calles”, which was launched as part of the celebration of the Museum’s Bicentenary in 2018.
The ultimate purpose of this exhibition is to bring art closer to all citizens, through magnificent full-scale (1:1) reproductions displayed in public spaces, offering visitors an experience very similar to that of visiting the Museum itself.
The great success achieved by the exhibition at the venues it visited during the Bicentenary encouraged us to continue its tour, first through Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León, then Extremadura, Andalusia and, finally, the Valencian Community. This project, organised in collaboration with the Museo Nacional del Prado, would not be possible without the support of local councils and the hospitality of the cities that host the exhibition.
