480 young vocational education students in Extremadura strengthen their skills and competencies thanks to the support of Fundación Iberdrola España

  • The organisation supports the project“Impulsa FP Extremadura: Youth with a Future”, developed by Ayuda en Acción, to strengthen the skills, career guidance and employment opportunities of students in vulnerable situations.
  • This partnership has been made possible through the Foundation’s Social Programme, Future with Energy, which opens an annual call for projects to support groups at risk of social exclusion or vulnerability.

This morning, the Social Action team of Fundación Iberdrola España, including Teresa Rodríguez de Tembleque and Julia Cuevas, visited the Impulsa FP Extremadura: Youth with a Future project, an initiative led by Ayuda en Acción that aims to address the employment challenges faced by young people in the region and help them identify educational and training pathways that provide greater opportunities for future integration into the labour market.

The programme is designed to improve the personal development, employability and labour market inclusion of 480 young people from Extremadura, aged between 16 and 24, studying at four educational centres in Badajoz and Almendralejo. Participants are enrolled in Basic Vocational Training, Intermediate Vocational Training and Higher Vocational Training programmes in strategic sectors with high employment potential, particularly those linked to the green transition and the electricity sector, such as Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Climate Control and Energy Efficiency. The visit took place at IES San Roque in Badajoz.

The project is delivered through training pathways that combine group workshops, one-to-one mentoring and practical activities with companies and professionals from a range of sectors. It focuses on developing both personal and professional skills, including self-esteem, emotional intelligence, decision-making, communication, teamwork and entrepreneurial initiative, while also strengthening digital competences, including those related to the professional use of artificial intelligence.

According to Teresa Rodríguez de Tembleque, Head of Social Action and Training at Fundación Iberdrola España:“Vocational education plays a key role in preparing the professionals our society needs. Through Ayuda en Acción’s Impulsa FP Extremadura project, we are helping hundreds of young people in Extremadura develop the personal and professional skills they need to enter the labour market with greater confidence and build their own life project.”

Miguel Tortajada, project manager of Impulsa at Ayuda en Acción, highlighted that:“When we work with vocational education students, we are not only preparing them to find employment. We are helping them discover their potential, build confidence and gain the tools they need to make decisions about their future. That support can make the difference between being left behind and moving forward towards a life project full of opportunities.”

The initiative goes beyond benefiting the participating students, as it also has a positive impact on their families, teachers and the communities closest to the 480 beneficiaries.

According to Ayuda en Acción, the project is expected to reach approximately 1,440 people indirectly through guidance, mentoring and awareness-raising activities in educational settings, helping to make them more inclusive and better connected to labour market needs.
