The Iberdrola Foundation has completely renewed the ornamental lighting system of the main facade of the Monastery of the Order of Santiago in Uclés, which highlights the volume of the façade and the architectural elements of this monument from 1735. This new exterior lighting, supposes a project of renovation of ornamental lighting that highlights, on the one hand, the volume of the facade and, on the other, the architectural details of this monument of the year 1735.

The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, together with the bishop of Cuenca, José María Yanguas; the president of the Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page; and the Secretary of State Director of the National Intelligence Center, Félix Sanz Roldán, attended the lighting of this lighting. LED technology luminaires have been installed that reduce the total power by 55%, which means reducing energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

In the course of his speech, Ignacio Galán stressed that “light is an element as intangible as essential in any architectural ensemble. Thank you, the ucleseños, the catellanomanchegos and all the visitors will be able to truly appreciate the volumes of the sculpted work, the texture of the walls and each one of the details of the ornamentation of this facade, one of the best Baroque examples that are conserved”.

LED technology luminaires have been installed that reduce the total power by 55%.

The ornamental lighting design of this Churrigueresque doorway, attributed to Pedro de Ribera, combines a flood lighting that highlights the general volume of the facade and spot lighting that highlights the architectural details of the facade. The combination of optics and color temperatures of the selected projectors help to enhance their unique elements.

This Iberdrola Foundation project includes the lighting of the keep of the Castle of Albar Llana, an old fortress of Arab origin located in front of the monastery.
