‘Employability Activation Hubs’ is the new career guidance program that promotes job placement through the most innovative techniques in employability, advice from specialized technical personnel, and the latest trends in the current labor market. Castilla-La Mancha opens a “Hub” in Talavera de la Reina to promote the integration of both unemployed people from the city and other locations in the region.

This initiative, completely free and in a blended format, provides updated guidance to unemployed people between 18 and 60 years old. It will be guided by specialists and adapted to the needs of its participants, also taking into account their special situation of vulnerability.

‘Employability Activation Hubs’ is promoted by the Santa María la Real Foundation and the Iberdrola Foundation, with co-financing from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), under the State Program for Social Inclusion, Child Guarantee and Fight against Poverty (CCI). 2021ES05SFPR003); and also co-financing from the Government of Castilla-La Mancha.

This was presented today at a press conference, with the participation of the Director of the Santa María la Real Foundation, Álvaro Retortillo; the Director of the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, Ramón Castresana, and the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco.

“This new approach to the ‘Employment Shuttle’ program, with a decade of experience and good results, reinforces the special commitment of our foundation towards territorial development and social inclusion, also focusing attention on an updated orientation, to adapt to the new techniques of the labor market to promote insertion,” highlighted the director of the Santa María la Real Foundation, Álvaro Retortillo.

“At Fundación Iberdrola España, we are committed to training and employability. Therefore, through this project, we not only provide employment opportunities, but we also build a path towards a greener future and a more equitable society,” explained the director of Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana.

Regarding the initiative, Patricia Franco has highlighted the importance of this triple alliance to launch an initiative “that once again puts people at the center, creating synergies between the participating people and not only working on qualification in aspects as necessary as digitalization or green employment but also empowerment when looking for employment opportunities.”

In this sense, the counselor recalled that the relationship with the Santa María la Real Foundation “comes from afar”, and has the solid foundation of the success of the Employment Launchers, “which in nine years have developed 63 projects in the region in which 1,523 unemployed people have participated”, and which has given very good results. “Of the participating people, 613 managed to become employed and 11 decided to become self-employed, and in addition 148 continued training paths to expand their qualifications.”

Digital and Green Skills Pathways

The project seeks the personal and professional activation of unemployed people, as well as the promotion of their employability through transversal skills and the most in-demand skills in the current labor market. Its participants receive support in labor intermediation to contact companies or access job offers to boost their chances of insertion.

It seeks to reduce the digital divide and promotes training in ‘green skills’ to apply for emerging positions. Its participants receive guidance from guidance and ‘green employment’ professionals, as well as mental health, to manage stress in the face of unemployment or job uncertainty. They prepare as a team to successfully pass job interviews, use the most current digital tools to search for employment, and know how to focus on their professional goal.

Activities in Talavera de la Reina and Puertollano

In the next five years, the Castilla-La Mancha HUB will host projects with a duration of seven months, in which three activities are combined: “Active Employment Launcher” and “Despega”, both with fixed headquarters, and “Employment Launcher Nómada”, which will move through different locations to facilitate the extension of the program. Up to a total of 70 unemployed people will participate in each edition of the projects.

  • “Active Employment Shuttle” in Talavera de la Reina. Formed by a heterogeneous group of unemployed people with a common objective: to update and focus their job search. It has a hybrid format, with in-person and online sessions in the morning, for over four and a half months. Its participants reinforce digital skills to search for employment effectively and adapt to emerging positions.
  • In addition, people in particularly vulnerable situations will receive specialized attention through the “Despega” activity in Talavera de la Reina. It is aimed at promoting their insertion into the labor market and their social inclusion.
  • “Nomadic Employment Shuttle” in Puertollano The first traveling edition will be held in this city. It retains the characteristics of the “Active Employment Shuttle” and with the advantage that it is developed in all types of territories and any format: in-person, online, or hybrid.

Registration open

Unemployed people between 18 and 60 years old can participate in the actions, free of charge and in a blended format. Registration is open until March 29 through the following online form: hubsempleibilidad.com/inscribete

The Castilla-La Mancha ‘Hub’ joins other centers in Spain, which will serve nearly 4,000 unemployed people. In addition, it includes complementary actions with a wide online projection, which plans to reach more than 100,000 people. This space in the region promotes employment, generates community, and promotes public-private collaboration models to fight unemployment and promote greater social inclusion.

“Employment Shuttles” Philosophy

“Employability Activation Hubs” follows the philosophy of the “Solidarity Employment and Entrepreneurship Launchers” program, with more than ten years of experience, and now with a greater presence in the territories through this project. They maintain the basic principles of solidarity from the group approach; diversity among participant profiles; people as a value and not as a burden; and visibility to break the stigma of unemployment.

Since 2013, more than 800 Employment Shuttles have been promoted in their different modalities, in almost 300 municipalities of all the autonomous communities. Nearly 20,000 people have been participants in a program that has 15 awards for its good results, and with an average insertion rate of nearly 60%.
