Fundación Iberdrola España and the Spanish Paralympic Committee expand scholarships for athletes with disabilities
- In the call for the 2026–2027 academic year, this initiative is extended to athletes with disabilities who hold the status of High-Level Athlete (DAN), High-Performance Athlete (DAR), or who are part of the ADOP Plan, and who practise any of the disciplines included in the Summer or Winter Paralympic Games programme.

These grants, worth up to €3,500, will cover university education, vocational training or specialised courses aimed at improving athletes’ employability in high-demand fields such as languages, technology, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Iberdrola España Foundation and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) have agreed to strengthen their commitment to the professional future of athletes with disabilities in the new edition of the Iberdrola España Foundation Scholarship Programme, which for the 2026–2027 academic year introduces significant new features aimed at reaching a greater number of beneficiaries and offering training opportunities in new fields.
One of the main improvements in this edition is the expansion of the profiles eligible to apply for the grants. In addition to athletes with disabilities who are part of the ADOP Plan, the call is now also open to those recognised as High-Level Athletes (DAN) or High-Performance Athletes (DAR) who practise any of the 29 Paralympic disciplines included in the Summer or Winter Games, thereby significantly increasing the number of potential beneficiaries.
Furthermore, for the coming academic year the programme broadens the range of studies eligible for funding. In addition to undergraduate degrees, double degrees and official master’s degrees, vocational training courses and specialised programmes aimed at improving employability are now also included, particularly in sectors with strong job prospects such as languages, technology, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The scholarships will be worth up to €3,500 per beneficiary.
Training and sport to build the future
Through this initiative, both organisations reinforce their commitment to the holistic development of athletes with disabilities, enabling them to combine their sporting careers with high-quality academic training that allows them to face their professional future with greater confidence once their competitive careers have come to an end.
The call will be governed by criteria of equality, merit, objectivity and transparency, with aspects such as academic record, the use made of previous studies, the type of training undertaken and the receipt of other financial support being taken into account.
Application process
Interested candidates may submit their applications once the call has been published on the Spanish Paralympic Committee’s website on 15 October. Required documentation includes proof of sporting status, enrolment in the studies for which the grant is sought, academic transcripts and justification of the expenses covered by the scholarship.
The application period will remain open until 15 November 2026, while the final decision will be announced on 26 November.
A shared commitment to inclusion
The Iberdrola España Foundation and the Spanish Paralympic Committee have maintained close collaboration for two decades, promoting projects that foster inclusion, equal opportunities and the personal and professional development of people with disabilities through sport.
With this new call for scholarships, both organisations reaffirm their commitment to talent, effort and education as key tools for building a more inclusive society with greater opportunities for all.
